OUT OF THIS WORLD ‘Uganda’s ugliest man’ with an ‘alien’ head hopes to use his new found fame to launch a music career

Godfrey Baguma, 47, has a disease that deformed his entire    face and led him using crutches to get around. He was ashoemaker and used to make public appearances to earnsome money. He then won a contest, “The Ugliest Man inUganda”, and things got a lot better in his life.In a country with no government support for medical treatment and with prejudiced people, Godfrey is an example of overcoming.

Instead of hiding from the world and just wait for his death without fighting, he reacted and used his deformity to enrich himself. Afterwinning the contest he decided to fulfill his dream of being a singer.
Godfrey no longer wanted to show his deformity, he wanted to show his qualities too. And he did it. He recorded a few albums and video clips with songs from his country using the stage name of
“Sebabi” (which means “the ugliest of all”), and he was quitesuccessful. In his personal life he faced many disappointments. He married and had two children, but his wife apparently wanted him
only for his money and eventually betrayed him. They divorced andhe met Kate Namanda, 20 years younger than him and very pretty.
Kate was introduced to him by his aunt who was part of his musical group. They were together for 4 years and he just went to meet her family when Kate got pregnant.
He was afraid that her family would not accept their union. In thesixth month of pregnancy, Kate left him, but returned two months later. They then formalized the union throwing a huge party, stopping his hometown, Kyazanga – a district of Lwengo in Uganda. Eachguest paid 4,000 Ugandan xilins to attend the wedding. This is abeautiful overcoming story. A person who had everything to fail wasable to win. He won and fulfilled his dreams. Thanks Sebabi. Keepbeing great and spreading your example to the world.
